Save a Bluesky video from its post
- Open the original Bluesky post and check that it contains a playable native video.
- Copy the post link from its share options. Use the individual post address rather than the author's profile.
- Select video in the tool above, paste the link, and start the download. Wait while the video is prepared.
- Wait for the browser to finish saving the MP4, then check its picture and sound in a local player.
No Xdownloaders account or browser extension is required. Use the tool for publicly accessible posts; deleted content and media hidden behind other services' login requirements cannot be retrieved through a Bluesky post link.
Supported Bluesky post URL styles
Use a link shaped like https://bsky.app/profile/example.bsky.social/post/POST_ID. The profile part can also be a DID, as in https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:IDENTIFIER/post/POST_ID. Copy the actual post address so its author identifier and post ID remain complete.
A profile, feed, search page or starter pack does not select one piece of media. If your link came from a shortened text preview, copy the post's own share link instead.
Native video, quote posts and external links
The video must be media attached to the submitted post. When a quote post includes its own video or images alongside the quoted record, that attached media can be handled. A quote consisting only of another post is different: this tool does not automatically follow every quoted record and collect its media.
An external website preview is different from native video. A Bluesky post linking to another video site does not make that video a supported Bluesky download. Check the original source's download options.
Images and Tenor GIFs
You can save accessible single images and multi-image posts. Several images can open a picker so you choose each photo. Supported GIF links are specifically HTTPS media from media.tenor.com; an arbitrary GIF page or external embed is outside that boundary. Availability depends on the media attached to the post.
How video quality and audio work
The tool selects the available video version with the highest bandwidth and saves it as MP4. It does not offer a separate Bluesky resolution selector, and changing the general quality preset does not force a different rendition. The upload and versions provided by Bluesky determine the final detail and dimensions.
Allow time for video preparation before the download begins. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same post. An MP4 may already reflect platform compression rather than the original upload quality.
Choose audio only when you need a native video's sound. MP3 is suitable for many players, while original audio preserves the source format and may need a compatible player. Photos and silent GIFs do not contain an audio track, and a set of images cannot become an audio download.
Save the result on desktop or mobile
On a computer, check the download list and open the completed file from Downloads or your selected folder. For a multi-image picker, use a save option or right-click the desired image.
On a phone, a browser may show a preview or a download prompt. Check browser downloads or the Files app before assuming the file reached your photo library. Long-press saving may be available for images. Moving an MP4 into Photos depends on your device and browser.
If no media is found
- Confirm the submitted post contains its own supported media rather than only a quote, external preview or text.
- Check the original post is still publicly available and that the handle or DID and post ID were copied fully.
- Resubmit the original post if a temporary download link has expired; do not use that download link as a permanent archive.
- Check your connection, follow rate-limit wait instructions, and allow for temporary Bluesky or service access failures.
Public access is not permission to republish. Preserve required attribution and obtain the rights you need before sharing saved media.
