How to save audio from a Twitter or X video
- Open the individual post on X and play the video with sound to confirm it has an audio track.
- Copy the post link from the share menu. It looks like
https://x.com/username/status/1234567890123456789. - Select Audio only in the tool above, paste the link, and start the download.
- Wait for the browser to save the MP3, then play it to confirm the sound matches the original clip.
No Xdownloaders account or browser extension is needed. The tool extracts the existing sound; it does not transcribe speech, remove music or improve the recording.
Which posts have audio to extract
Only a video that carries its own sound track can become an MP3. These cannot:
- GIFs on X, which are stored as silent looping videos.
- Videos uploaded without sound, or muted by the uploader.
- Photos, text-only posts and link previews from other websites.
If a video plays silently on X, there is nothing to convert. Check the original post before retrying.
Posts with more than one video
When a post holds several attachments, audio mode shows the same media picker as video mode and saves the selected videos rather than separate MP3 files. To get one attachment's audio, add its position to the status link, for example https://x.com/username/status/1234567890123456789/video/2 for the second item, and submit that link with Audio only selected.
MP3 or original audio
MP3 is the default and plays in almost every app, car stereo and phone. The original audio option in Settings keeps the source format without re-encoding, which may need a compatible player. Neither option adds detail missing from the upload; X compresses sound when a video is posted.
Find the MP3 on your device
On a computer, the file goes to your browser's download location, usually Downloads. On a phone, check the browser's download list or the Files app; moving audio into a music library depends on your system and apps.
Use audio you have rights to
Saving a clip's sound does not grant permission to reuse music, speech or sound effects. Keep the source link and follow the creator's terms and applicable copyright law. For the video itself, use the Twitter video downloader.
